IAM Records

Melbourne's favourite megamixer Samus Jay has always had a strong interest in the dj Industry with an impressive list of radio work and megamix Compilation CDs. Being interviewed on many radio stations worldwide, Samus Jay has been accepted by the world for his talent in megamixing!

In this exclusive interview, we reveal 'the man behind the decks' and get the goes on his latest release “Those were the days” A 70s Remake of the original tune by Mary Hopkins, released by IAM Records.

IAM : What were your thoughts when you were given the idea from IAM Records?

Samus : It was challenging, I mean remixing such an old song with new modern groove is very difficult. A lot of planning and patience were used.

IAM: What made you choose this specific song from any other song?

Samus : Ask IAM (laughs) he came up with the idea and insisted on me doing it. But hey it paid off! Hed Kandi is now making a version of the song, Ministry of Sound are also making their version, and American DJ Johnny Master Mix is also recreating his version to be sold on CDM & LP. So it's great!

IAM: I hear from IAM Records, "LIVE SESSIONS - Live Sessions" became a huge hit in Melbourne?

Samus: Thanks to everyone's support, Swift Impulse 88.3FM, Charisma Nightclub and Entica Entertainment, it became a success. A lot of CDs were given at selected clubs and venues where I made appearances and performances. The reaction from the crowd was overwhelming. It feels good seeing people walk out of a club, holding your CD.

IAM: Well, being fussy towards your work has paid off! You're BIG worldwide now.

Samus: (laughs) not big, but growing!

IAM: Well Samus Jay, it was great to have you in, and we wish you the best of luck with IAM Records. Congratulations on the new hit.

Samus: Thank you, it's a pleasure to be here!
